Army group holds shooting contest

SEMPADI: First Malaysian Infantry Division yesterday held a shooting contest in conjunction with its 51st Anniversary, held at its Shootig Range 400 in Sempadi.

Apart from the test of accuracy and skill this annual event was held to further enhance rapport among personnel of the First Malaysian Infantry Division.

A total of 38 groups partook in the contest this time.

Among shooting categories contested were Big Unit (Kategori Unit Besar) that was won by 13th Battalion of Malay Royal Regiment; with the Small Unit Category being won by First Regiment of the Royal Military Police while the Officers’ Unit Category was won by First Malaysian Infantry Division personnel.

In the afternoon some more shooting categories were contested including those exclusively for local officers and members of the Shooting Club of First Division Sarawak.

In the Invitation Category, the shooting event was won by the group led by Brigadier General Dato’ Haji Fadzil bin Tajudin, the 13th Malaysia Infantry Brigade Commander.

Given the honour to present the prizes to the winners was Commander of First Malaysian Infantry Division Major General Datuk Stephen Mundaw.

Also present throughout the contest was Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, local community leaders and other high ranking officers of the First Malaysian Infantry Division.
