KUCHING: The First Division of the Malaysian Infantry is geared up to be of service to the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in the flash flood. Its members and military assets are currently being prepared to be mobilised at any time to provide assistance to the affected population. The military have undergone flood simulation and training with rescue agencies coordinated by the Department of Social Welfare (JKM). Currently, the Army Records Party has also been mobilised to assist in monitoring areas that are expected to be hit by the flood first. It is also believed that Sarawak’s flood situation is under control but members of the public are advised to be cautious.
