KUCHING: The Barisan Nasional (BN) is gearing up for the upcoming Pujut by-election that will take place later this month.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief, Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof pointed out that Pujut had a low number of Bumiputera voters.

“Whoever the candidate may be, especially from our component party, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), we will ensure that BN will win the seat.

“It is very significant for us to win this seat as BN is the party that will be able to give the best service to both the people and the state.

“And of course, our machinery will be as vigorous as it was during the Tanjung Datu by-election,” said Fadilah during an interview after launching the Ramadan Bazaar located at the Piazza Walk near Matang Mall yesterday.

Fadilah, who is also the Minister of Works, said that BN and its component parties would be moving forward together as one in the by-election.

Asked if the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and United People’s Party would have to compromise with each other as only one candidate would be chosen from either party, the Minister replied:“Yes, that is what we hope, because we want to serve the people well. But what is more important is our message to the voters and the people.”

After launching the Ramadan Bazaar, Fadilah distributed a total of 120 aprons and caps sponsored by Central Coldstorage Kuching (CCK) to 60 stalls at the bazaar.
