KUCHING: It is the prerogative of the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to determine the number of full ministers and deputy minister, said Stampin Member of Parliament Chong Chieng Jen.
Chong, who is also Pakatan Harapan Sarawak chief, was asked if it was enough for Sarawak to have one full minister and one deputy minister from Sarawak in Pakatan Harapan (PH) Government and if the numbers should be increased.
“What has been viral, I think it has not been announced by the Prime Minister. There is no increase.
“It is the prerogative of the Prime Minister to determine how many full ministers and deputy ministers.
“So, if it has not been increased and has not been announced, I think it is not appropriate for me to make any comment on the list that has been viralled, which is not official,” he said when met by the media after presenting prizes to winners of Emergency Response Team (ERT) 2018 competition organised by Fire and Rescue Department Sarawak held at UCSI Hotel here on Wednesday night.
“Let us just wait for the final list to be announced,” he added.
Asked if he had received any telephone calls from the Prime Minister on a deputy minister post, Chong said,”Let the Prime Minister announce it. You will know about it on Monday.
“It is not really appropriate for me to jump the gun. It is not proper. In one or two says only, you will know.”
