KUCHING: By January next year, a special office will be set up in Singapore to facilitate tourism and agricultural activities between Sarawak and Singapore said Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Speaking during an appreciation dinner in conjunction with the recent 14th Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Convention, he added that the office would be handled by state civil officers and would serve as an outlet for the export of agricultural goods between the state and Singapore.

“Since civil officers from Sarawak will be managing the office, anyone from Sarawak who wants to reach Singapore on tourism and agriculture can do so via that office.

“I have discussed with the State Secretary (Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani) to set up the office, latest by January next year,” he said, adding that this came as a result of a working visit to Singapore and after having discussions with the Singapore government on how they could collaborate.

At the same time, Abang Johari also hinted at two major announcements which would take place in September and October this year.

The announcement in September would involve the youths in the state and their creativity whereas in October, it would be in regards to the strengthening of state’s financials.

On the 14th PBB Convention which was held last month, the Chief Minister said that it was a testimony to the strength of the party which lies in its party members.

“This is our success, we work as a team and since election is approaching, we hope that we will win big.

“We are hoping for a clean sweep of all the seats that have been allocated to PBB,” disclosed Johari, who is also the PBB party leader.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister and organising chairman, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the convention was a success while creating memories and history at the same time.
