KUCHING: The Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) has donated a new karaoke set as well as ‘angpau’ packets, t-shirts and goodie bags to the residents of Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng Home for the Aged in Jalan Sekama here yesterday.

The ceremony was graced by the Chief Minister’s wife, who is also the Sabati Chairman, Datin Patinggi Dato Hajah Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang. The donation was given in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) to foster the spirit of the festival and to show that the elderly were still being appreciated.

During the event, Sabati members performed a CNY song and there was also a dance performance from the Dance Academy Kuching.

The premises house 27 elderly comprising 15 males and 12 females. There are nine fulltime caretakers and about more than 10 volunteers daily. Also present were Sabati Deputy Chairman, Datin Amar Doreen Mayang and Sabati Secretary, Datin Dr Zaliha Abdullah.
