KUCHING: A youth suspected of robbing a teenage girl of her mobile phone at a shopping mall along Jalan Wan Alwi last Thursday night was arrested by police yesterday morning.
The suspect, from Siniawan, Bau was picked up by a police team from Kuching District Police Headquarters after receiving information from his accomplice who was arrested on Thursday night.
During questioning, the suspect led the police to the crime scene to recover a weapon which he allegedly used to rob the victim that night.
At the time of the incident, the girl who works at the shopping mall was waiting for her father to pick her up when the robbery occurred at around 10.30pm.
The suspect and his accomplice fled the scene in a car. However, his accomplice was detained by police later that night. A car used by the suspects was also seized.
Both men were detained for further investigation.
