MARUDI: A 39-year-old man from Long Pilah, Baram ran amok and tried to shot someone using a homemade shotgun was nabbed by a police team from here, yesterday.

Baram district police chief DSP Gabriel Risut said the incident happened last Monday and following a report lodged by a complainant yesterday the suspect was arrested in a raid at the back of a cottage in Long Miri at 2.30pm yesterday.

Also seized from the suspect were a homemade shot gun and a waist porch containing a live cartridge.

The suspect was taken to the police headquarters here for further action.

Following the incident, the police here will check on residents of Long Pilah who own homemade shotguns.
