MATU: This district’s Sarawak Independence Day 2018 Celebration was held at Kampung Kuala Matu Hilir, here, on Sunday night.

Staged in the multi-purpose hall of the village, the event themed `Malam Kamik Sayang Sarawak’ was officiated at by a Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Abu Seman Jahwie.

It was jointly organised by SABERKAS Jemoreng Branch, Kpg Kuala Matu Hilir Area Neighbourhood Watch Committee (KRT Kpg Kuala Matu Hilir) and Sahabat AIM of the village.

Among the activities for the night were Children Fashion Show (State and National flags), poco-poco dance and other entertaining items.

Abu Seman, who is also chairman of SABERKA Jemoreng Branch hoped that the event would be able to stoke the spirit of love in the people for the state and also for them to understand the importance of the date.

Also present at the event were Penghulu Lai Elan Bin Sabeli of  Kpg Kuala Matu, KK Kadir Bin Adi of  Kpg  Kuala Matu Hilir, Kapitan Kueh Chiew Ping  of  Kpg Kuala Matu, KK Haslimi Hassan of Kpg Badong Daro, Yusufian Bin Samsudin  Chairman of KRT Kpg Kuala Matu Hilir, Saunah Bt Ali Ketua Sahabat of  AIM Kpg Kuala Matu Hilir and former KK of  Kpg Kuala Matu Hilir, Haji Boll Bin Nakup.
