KUCHING: A married couple were arrested by the police after various types of drugs worth RM194,976 were found in their apartment at Muara Tabuan on Thursday.

According to District Police chief, ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai, one packet of paper bag was found in the third room of the apartment containing 163 transparent plastic packets filled with crystal-like substance suspected to be Syabu weighing 611.79g, Ecstacy (140 tablets weighing 50.18g) and 650 tablets of Erimin 5 (180.63g).

He said the male suspect who was arrested at the apartment car park has led the police to an apartment in the same area where a woman was arrested for the same offence.

The male suspect, a 45-year-old Sarawakian showed positive result for methamphetamine in his drug test while the female suspect, a 40-year-old Indonesian produced negative result in her drug test. “Both suspects will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for trafficking drug, which will be sentenced to death penalty if found guilty,” stressed Abang Ahmad during a press conference held at Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) in Jalan Simpang Tiga yesterday.

“The male suspect has also admitted to be selling drugs starting 2017,” he added.

Abang Ahmad pointed that the police also seized a white sedan car and RM2,000 cash when arresting the suspect, where he willingly handed the police a black satchel containing Syabu weighing at 2.1g of Syabu and Erimin 5 (100 tablet). He added the male suspect will be remanded for seven days for further investigation.
