KUCHING: A senior citizen who went missing after going to his farm at Rh Junaidi Melina, Disso Awik, Saratok on Wednesday was found by the search and rescue operation team yesterday morning.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim, Mawar Ranggai, 73, was found safe, but weak at about 1.2 kilometres from the search and rescue (SAR) control centre, located near the longhouse, at 9.32am.

The spokesman said the victim was given treatment by personnel from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) before sending him to a hospital for further treatment.

The SAR operation was launched at 7.00am yesterday after Mawar’s family members reported him missing on Wednesday night.

Mawar was said to have gone to his farm at around 9.00am  on Wednesday but did not return, prompting his family members to seek help from other villagers to look for him before eventually lodging a report at Saratok District Police Headquarters.
