KUCHING: Petronas is extending its support to education in Sarawak again. Work on its next project, a hostel for 120 boys and girls, will begin at the end of the year.

Its Human Resources Vice President, Dato’ Raiha Azni Abdul Rahman told a press conference at the Petronas’ Education Sponsorship Award ceremony held here recently that the project was “part and parcel (of the corporate’s social responsibility) to ensure that rural students are not left out.”

She disclosed that the hostel would be built in the Paloh district.

“The facility is up. We work together with the state Education Department and they gave us this location,” she said.

Raiha added that Petronas was very happy to present an additional 25 sponsorships to deserving Sarawakian students studying at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Sarawak.

“They are pursuing programmes and  the scholarships will enable them to focus on their studies which are encouraged by Petronas.”
