KUCHING: Eleven strategic partners of the Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (PUSPEN) Kuching received certificates of appreciation for their contributions to PUSPEN Kuching throughout the year on Thursday night.
The 11 strategic partners were Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM), Mara Skills Institute (IKM), Mas Gading Community College, Sarawak Agriculture Institute (IPS), Malaysian Pineapple Development Board Sarawak, Fisheries Department Sarawak, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Harakah Islamiah (HIKMAH) Sarawak, Christian Emmanuel Baptist Church Sarawak, Malaysia Dhamma Association Sarawak Branch and Chin Fu Methodist Church Sarawak.
Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who presented the certificates at Grand Margherita Hotel here, said that PUSPEN should find more strategic partners.
“Here in Kuching, there are many institutions which can provide services and contributions to train and increase our PUSPEN clients’ skills.
“Our clients need the skills so that they can find suitable jobs or open their own businesses after rehabilitation,” he said.
“If our clients do not have the needed skills in our society today, they will not be able to find work and stand on their own feet,” pointed out Tengah.
He stressed that it was the joint responsibility of everyone to help the clients and ensure that the society was free from drug abuse.
“This is the biggest contribution that we can do and a form of satisfaction that we can be proud of,” he added.
