SEDC holds breaking of fast at GMH

KUCHING: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) held a breaking fast event with 83 children at Grand Magherita Hotel (GMH) here on Tuesday night.

Present to enliven the event were Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Ragad Kurdi Taib.

The event commenced with a ‘duit raya’ presentation to the children from the Head of State and his wife, witnessed by SEDC Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz Husain and SEDC General Manager Tuan Haji Soedirman Aini.

Adding more excitement to the festivity, the children who were aged four to 17 years old of Rumah Kanak-kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Batu 12, Kuching and Rumah Kanak-kanak Datuk Ajibah Abol, Sri Aman also received goody bags from the Corporation.

Children and guests were later treated to Iftar meals at ‘Macam-Macam Ada Ramadhan Buffet’ prepared by GMH.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with the objective of giving back to the society, SEDC has been carrying out this programme on a yearly basis.

It aimed specifically giving an opportunity for the less fortunate children a chance to enjoy the ambience of breaking fast with Head of State and other dignitaries. 

Head of State together with other guests later performed their ‘Solat Berjemaah’.

Also present was SEDC Chairman’s wife Puan Sri Fredahanam Mahmud.
