KUCHING: It is hoped that this year more dilapidated schools in the state would be improved.

“This is our key performance area and I am expecting drastic improvements in our dilapidated schools,” said Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan, who disclosed that with the state government’s budget of RM11.9 billion, the momentum of rural development covering the building of roads and the provision of electricity and water would be accelerated and optimised.

He said the improvement of schools should be one of the main focuses for the benefit of young people to eventually lift up their standard of living.

“If we are able to achieve this, it would become the strength that would determine our destiny and dignity as a state,” he said.

On the sports front, he expected new talents that could show Sarawak as a powerhouse in Sukma or the international arena.
