SIBU: A man wanted by the police to assist in investigating a murder case of a female civil servant known as Nurnia Azalea Priscilla Edward in Jalan Tiong Hua’s rental room on August 2 was detained by police from Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Julau and CID Sibu yesterday morning.

Sibu Police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit when contacted confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

“Today (August 7) at about 10.40am, on information received, police from Julau and Sibu arrested a suspect known as Philip Ak Buja, 42 year-old man wanted to assist in the investigation of a murder case where a 26 years old women was killed in Jalan Tiong Hua, Sibu.

“The suspect who is working as a lorry driver is believed to have been drinking poison in the longhouse’s toilet. The arrest was made in a longhouse in Julau after a tip-off.

“CID Julau raided the longhouse of the suspect’s wife in Julau and arrested the suspect in the toilet with a transparent bottle near him. The CID Sibu team was later informed and immediately assisted,” he said.

He added that the police also seized a transparent bottle of liquefied liquor that was taken by the suspect (suspected poison of urea fertilizer for oil palm which was brewed with water).

“Suspect who has been taken to Sibu Hospital for further treatment is now in stable condition,” he said.

He will be remanded for investigation for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
