KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received two courtesy calls at Astana Negeri, Petra Jaya here on Monday.
The first courtesy call was from Tun Taib received was from Nadwah Ulama Nusantara (NUN) VIII Committee led by Chairman of Sarawak Islamic Council, Datu Misnu Taha.
NUN VIII will be held from 23 to 25 October with the theme, “Sinergi Ulama dalam Pemerkasaan Ummah”.
Besides, the visit was also to invite Tun Taib to officiate at the closing ceremony at Majma Complex Hall of Sarawak Islamic Council here on 25 October at 8.30pm and to launch a book by Sheikh Haji Othman Abdul Wahap Al Sarawaqi.
The second courtesy call was from the Organsing Committee of the Head of State 82nd Birthday Celebration led by Second Minister of Finance, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh who is also minister in charge of the celebration.
The visit was meant to invite Tun Taib to be present at main events of the celebration which will be held in Sibu on 13 October.
The Head of State 82nd Birthday celebration will being with Thanksgiving prayers at An-Nur Mosque Sibu on 12 October.
The main event for the celebration will be a parade and march pass by 128 contingents at Sibu Square which will be followed by an investiture ceremony and State banquet in a hotel in Sibu.
The fringe activities are a concert at Sibu Square, an exhibition on the Head of State at the gallery of the Sibu Islamic Complex and the commissioning of a musical fountain at Square Tower, Sarawak River bank in Kuching on 14th October.
