SIBU: The ‘dryer’ and ‘chip silo’ of a wood factory in Upper Lanang were completely burnt on Sunday. According to sources, the Fire and Rescue Department’s operation centre received an emergency call at 7.37pm and firefighters from Bomba Sibu headed by operation commanders Melvin and Jankey rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival at the scene, the ‘dryer’ was already 80 per cent burnt while the ‘chip silo’ was 100 per cent burnt. The fire did not involve the building structure.

The fire was extinguished at 9.15 pm and no casualties were reported. Assisting in the operation were some 40 workers from the factory.
