Nine errant individuals slapped with compounds

KUCHING: Police issued nine compounds to individuals in the state on Sunday (Aug 16) for failing to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOPs) in public places.

“Two compounds each were issued in Miri, Padawan and Limbang while one compound each was issued in Kuching, Kota Samarahan and Betong.

“Meanwhile, police also arrested an Indonesian at a restaurant in Limbang for not complying with SOP and did not practice physical distancing,” the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said in a statement on Monday (Aug 17).

On SOP compliance monitoring, enforcement teams inspected 1,743 premises throughout Sarawak.

They were restaurants (350), supermarkets (219), banks (125), public markets (81), places of worship (80), government offices (58), leisure places (46), hawker stalls (37), construction sites (23), factories (10) and others (714).

Some 779 vehicles were inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts – Lundu (two) and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
