No new Covid-19 cases detected

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 cases. As such the number of positive cases remains in the state at 752.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement informed that there were still two active clusters, namely Bah Arnab Cluster in Kuching and Putra Cluster in Bintulu.

As of 12 noon on Tuesday (Oct 13), the Bah Arnab Cluster remained with four reported positive cases. In this cluster, a total of 40 individuals (including four positive cases) have undergone screening and 36 of them tested negative for Covid-19.

“The Putra Cluster remained with six reported positive cases in the state. Apart from that, a case of positive contact has been detected and registered in Selangor.

“For this cluster, 133 individuals have undergone screening and 109 of them have tested negative while, the remaining are still awaiting laboratory results,” the committee said.

SDMC also announced that there was two new recovery and discharged cases, one each in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Miri Hospital. This brought the total figure of recovery and discharged cases to 690 or 91.76 percent.

Currently, there are 43 cases receiving treatment at hospitals — 25 in SGH, seven each in Miri Hospital and Bintulu Hospital, and four in Sibu Hospital

“There are no cases receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU). The death toll in the state remains at 19 or 2.53 percent to date.

“Meanwhile, 10 new persons-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and eight are still awaiting laboratory test results,” the committee informed.

On compounds issued to errant individuals for not complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs), police have issued 20 compounds comprising 15 in Miri, three in Kuching and, one each in Betong and Sarikei.

The Ministry of Local Government also issued 90 verbal, written and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

Under Ops Benteng, SDMC stated that a total of 1,866 vehicles were inspected at six roadblocks in five districts, namely two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
