No new positive cases

KUCHING: No new positive Covid-19 cases were reported in Sarawak on Thursday, with the total number of cases in the state remaining at 556.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement said, five cases had recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Of these, four were from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one was from Bintulu Hospital.

“This means that the total number of positive Covid-19 cases which have recovered and been discharged is 531, or 95.5 percent. 

“Twenty new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases have been reported, and six are still awaiting laboratory results,” it said.

As of Thursday,   eight cases were undergoing treatment at hospitals, with none in intensive care unit (ICU) and none requiring breathing assistance. All eight cases are at SGH.

Thus far, the virus has caused 17 deaths in the state since the first positive case was reported on March 13.

SDMC added five persons under surveillance (PUS) were checked into hotels on Thursday to undergo quarantine.

This brings the total number of PUS at 19 hotels statewide to 1,453 while 14,728 PUS have completed their quarantine.
