SIMANGGANG: The Chinese community, especially in the Lingga state constituency, will not be neglected or marginalised from enjoying the development benefitting other races.

Lingga Assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor assured in a press statement here that all races in the state are taken care of equally, especially in receiving welfare, development and so on.

“There is no marginalisation of the Chinese or other races in the state. All citizens are given freedom of religion and assistance is given regardless of race.

“Therefore, the role of community leaders is still considered important so that the people get authentic information on government assistance,” she said.

She said this at the 2022 Chinese New Year Pre-Celebration Ceremony near here on Sunday (Jan 23).

Dayang Noorazah also assured that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government will ensure fair development for all communities in Sarawak.

“I thank the people, especially the Chinese community for their continued support in working with the state government in bringing prosperity to Sarawak,” she said.

Dayang Nooazah said  the people  should be grateful for the blessings they have enjoyed so far.

“We have celebrated every festival celebrated by every race living in the state in full peace and harmony.

“With no restraints, no feelings of hesitation and a warm welcome for every activity held, it has proved that the unity of our country is very strong,” she added.

During the ceremony, Dayang Noorazah presented donations to senior citizens in the Chinese community in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Also present were Temenggung Kueh Aik Seng, Penghulu Kang Tai Kong, Kapitan Hii Ngik Chuang and Kapitan Kuek Siaw Yong.
