KUCHING: OceanMight Sdn Bhd has secured a RM111.6 million contract for a steel fabrication project.

The oil & gas subsidiary of KKB Engineering Bhd received a purchase order contract from Samsung Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd for the module fabrication and supply of steel structures for Malaysia Shell R&M onshore gas plant project in Bintulu.

The contract is scheduled to be completed within third quarter of 2024, KKB said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

This is the second major contract won by OceanMight this year.

In January, OceanMight received a letter of award with limited notice to proceed from Sarawak Shell Bhd (SSB) for the provision of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of standard wellhead platforms for MLNG FaS (F27, F22 and Selasih) gas field development.

This contract, together with a purchase order received by KKB Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd from Seri Ghanimi Contractor Sdn Bhd for the supply of mild steel concrete lined pipes, are worth a combined RM351.7 million.

The SSB contract, which was effective from December 2022, is expected to be completed in nine months. Meanwhile, Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd has sealed an export deal with Daching Enterprises Ltd for the sales of aluminium ingots worth several hundred million ringgit.

Southeast Asia’s largest aluminium smelter said during a meeting arranged by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) last week that the company secured an immediate export sales of aluminium ingots to Daching Enterprises worth RM110 million for 2023.

Both companies have projected that transaction of the same product valued at RM670 million will be happening for the next five years, Press Metal said in a media release. Daching Enterprises and its subsidiaries are one of the world’s largest manufacturers of aluminium foil, with an annual production capacity of 120,000 tonnes for aluminium foil and 220,000 tonnes for aluminium sheets.

Its market share ranks among the top three in the global thin gauge aluminium foil market. Daching Enterprises’ products are sold to customers all over the world and widely used in milk, beverage, food and pharmaceutical packaging and as cathode foil in lithium batteries for electric vehicles.
