KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 714 new students have enrolled in the one-year Science studies at the Centre of Pre-University Studies (PPPU) of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) for the 2022/2023 academic session.

After a two-year hiatus, the students were welcomed in a gleeful atmosphere during a pledge ceremony or Majlis Ikrar Pelajar (MIP) today.

UNIMAS Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said the varsity is always committed to giving its students the best campus experience.

“The best campus experience is a long -term investment that will produce unimaginable returns to UNIMAS in the future.

“Surely you all dream of a campus experience that will leave a sweet and meaningful memory upon graduation.

“In this context, the space provided at the university must be utilised responsibly and prudently through involvement in a variety of positive and value-added activities,” he said.

He said this when officiating at MIP, held at Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman (DeTAR) PUTRA at UNIMAS today.

The momentous ceremony was held on the last day of the three-day orientation week or Minggu Aluan Pelajar (MAP) which was carried out to brief the new students on campus facilities and services as well as motivational speeches by UNIMAS experts.

“MAP is your transition medium from the school phase to a more challenging university phase. It is the beginning of a journey of gaining knowledge on this campus.

“The diversity of your background is part of the learning process where you learn to be tolerant and integrated, not confrontational as well as working together and practise positive thinking.

“I hope that the early fillings and experiences gained during the MAP will be fully made use of to start the journey as a new student of UNIMAS,” Kadim added.
