Over 100 students attend sex awareness campaign

KAPIT: More than 100 students aged between 14 and 18 years from five secondary schools here attended a three-day sex awareness campaign at SMK Kapit 2 which ended yesterday.

The campaign hosted by SMK Kapit 2 was jointly organised by the Kapit Welfare Department Office in collaboration with SMK Kapit 2.

The campaign, among others, was to create awareness among the target groups on the negative impact of illicit sex and unwanted pregnancy, to protect and respect the integrity of the family and to educate, motivate and build confidence among the participants to get through the various challenges in life.

The campaign facilitators were Umadi Bin Polot, head of the Children and Community Service Unit at the State Welfare Department, director of Kapit Hospital, Dr Hii King Ching, a counsellor of the Bintulu Welfare Department Office, Remey Anak William, and two teachers from SMK Kapit 2, Francisca Lina Anak Tujang and Awang Fadillah Bin Awang Hussein.

The closing ceremony was officiated at by Member of Parliament for Hulu Rajang, Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.
