MIRI: Two hundred and forty households in 15 areas here including Marudi on Monday received immediate food relief from the Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) via a programme called “Food Basket 2.0″.

The programme aimed to provide food to needy people whose livelihoods had been badly affected by the movement control order (MC)) following the surge of Covid-19 positive cases.

Miri zone chief, Supt Law Poh Kong said 80 food baskets were distributed to needy families during the department’s first Food Basket programme held recently.

Earlier on, Law, accompanied by NSJA’s president, Andy Jong   distributed food baskets to recipients in Tudan and Taman Tunku.

They also went to areas such as Lutong, Tudan, Permyjaya, Kampung Pasir Lutong, Bakam, Kampung Lusut, Taman Tunku, Piasau, Kuala Baram, Senadin, Sungai Baong, Lambir, Batu Niah and Marudi to distribute the food.
