SIBU: A total of 37,930 Kenyalang Gold Cards (KGC) have been distributed to recipients in Sibu Division thus far, says Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

The Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development noted that this number is out of a total of 273,979 holders throughout the state.

She added that KGC is a state government initiative that allows private parties, corporate bodies, companies, supermarkets, and stores that wish to offer discounts or rebates on their products and services to cardholders.

Recipients will be provided with discounts and services through the use of KGC in collaboration with KGC’s strategic partners, consisting of private companies and registered commercial centres across Sarawak.

“Therefore, we want to add strategic partners so that this card can be used more comprehensively,” she said at the presentation ceremony of the KGC strategic partner plaque to Win Hotel here on Friday (Mar 1).

The Dalat assemblywoman believes that many want to become KGC strategic partners but they do not know how to apply.

“Applications can be made manually by obtaining forms at the Department of Social Welfare or by filling out forms online. In Sibu Division, there are currently 40 strategic partners offering various privileges to cardholders, with 471 strategic partners throughout Sarawak.”

Fatimah hoped that more would come forward and collaborate with the ministry as KGC strategic partners for mutual welfare.

Regarding Win Hotel, she said that as a new strategic partner, they offer corporate rates for room rates available at the hotel.

“In addition to Win Hotel, strategic partners in Sibu include Sibu Specialist Medical Centre, Ban Siew Casket, 20DB Hearing Sdn Bhd, and many more.”

Also present were Win Hotel manager Desmond Leong, Sibu Division Social Welfare officer Tang Kee Lee and others.
