SERIAN: Parishioners of St. Theresa’s Church here came up with a novel idea while awaiting plans to put up a parish pastoral centre to come through.

With earthworks already done at the site, they decided to turf the area and plant coconut trees in an attempt to prevent erosion there in the meantime.

“While waiting for the approval of the building plan by the various government departments, the Centre Building Committee initiated the project to avoid erosion at the just completed earth-filled site,” it said.

“Rector of the Parish Fr. Swinie Lazarus was fully involved in the project together with the participants in spite of his heavy schedule.”

The parishioners, supervised by John Sup, came from Kampung Ranchan, Kampung Riih Daso, Kampung Seroban and Kampung Ampungan to work in turns.

On another note,  the Parish Pastoral Centre Building Committee chairman Dennis Sung hoped more generous donors will come forward to donate to the church.
