KUCHING: Chairman of MUDA Sarawak, Jeffery Ngui said the party regretted the action by some quarters in provoking the Malaysia Sport Council (MSN) regarding Kelantan, MSN itself, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and also Sarawak as the host state for the Sukma Games with their allegations on the social media and media statements.

Ngui, in a press statement, added that he was commenting on the media statement from the MSN which clarified itself on the allegations by the said parties on March 17.

“SUKMA should be used as a unity platform for Malaysians regardless of race and to uphold the spirit and values of Malaysia Madani.

“The decision was made between the SUKMA supreme council, the Kelantan Youth and Sports Committee and Kelantan NGO. Hence, all parties ought to move forward so that the SUKMA is a success,” he said.

In this context, he said MUDA Sarawak hoped the state government through Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) could establish a non-partisan committee comprising representatives from MSN, the Youth and Sports Department Sarawak, sport bodies, NGOs and representatives from the opposition block to enable all parties to contribute their ideas and expertise so that the SUKMA 2024 is a successful event.

Ngui also said SUKMA 2024 should also prioritise the local companies and suppliers in the preparation management in terms of infrastructure, facilities and programmes so that the local economy is not left behind.
