KUCHING: While most welfare efforts now are focused on those suffering from the detrimental effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, not to be forgotten are those with conditions that render them bedbound.

Such people are unable to move about freely and they spend most if not all of their time in bed. As such, a comfortable patient bed is ideal – but those facing financial strain may not be able to afford this.

The people of Repok are therefore very fortunate to have a caring leader who is quick to respond to those in need.

Last Thursday (Mar 4), Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii contributed patient beds to three bedridden persons in his constituency in an effort to provide more comfort to them.

The recipients were Fung Tsui Wong, 80, residing in the Sg Kedup area; Lei Jin Lok, 79, from the Sg Mawang area; and Lau Soon Ing, 88, who lives in the Sg Sebanyak area.

Representing Huang in delivering these patient beds was Penghulu Huang Tiong Kang, accompanied by Kapitan Chieng Hei Chin, Tuai Rumah Pitre Ambit, and a member of the Repok Service Centre.

Earlier on Monday (Mar 1), patient beds were also donated to another two bedridden persons, namely Ling Chiong Kiong, 75, from Sg Meradong and Lau Ing Huang, 79, from Sg Jabai.

Representing Huang in delivering the beds were Su Sien Hua and Su Sieng Do from the Repok Service Centre. They also taught the recipients’ families how to use the patient beds.

The family members were very thankful for Huang’s assistance extended to the people regardless of race and religion.
