KUCHING: State leaders from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) hopes that Sarawak is able to achieve its mission of a developed state by 2030 through the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

They expressed confidence that PBB under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg can see the state achieving its goal especially through the focus in the new economy.

Earlier, the state leaders were among the 1,400 PBB delegates attending the 2023 Kuching Zone PBB Special Convention which was held at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here yesterday.

Santubong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri

“This time PBB special convention is not like the previous convention where it involves four main areas in the Kuching zone.

“This convention displayed the unity between party members and this is what we need to maintain for equality and at the same time looking at the resolutions that have been presented together.

“The first day of the convention saw solid support given by members from 26 branches. So now this gathering effort shows that our representative members are still strong until now.”

Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang

“From our president’s speech, we could listen clearly with the mission of bringing Sarawak forward. Alhamdulillah, Sarawak is now on the right track with creative, innovative and proactive leadership.

“Sarawak is boldly presenting itself in the development of a new economy that is more of a green economy and also from the point of view of new energy and we can see how the hydrogen industry, algae are being pointed out.

“This is the development that shapes progress in the country and we see this potential with the resources available in Sarawak, and the people of Sarawak are very lucky because we have these resources.”

Layar assemblyman Datuk Gerald Jabu

“The mandate given by the president of the PBB has given an overview of our direction and the future of Sarawak. We must also empower the youth and create an opportunity for them.

“In terms of the new economy consisting of carbon, our hydrogen economy requires a lot of human resources who are skilled in terms of science and technology.

“At the same time, our rights must be protected and the Unity Government should give back the rights that are due to Sarawak as stipulated in the Constitutions.”

Tanjong Datu assemblyman, Azizul Annur Adenan

“My hope is for the PBB to always remain relevant in leading the political direction and direction of state development.

“I am grateful this convention provides a platform for PBB to explain the state government’s policies especially regarding the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and also Sarawak’s mission to become a developed state by 2030.
