MIRI: A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after he was knocked by a coupe at Jalan Kampung Wireless on Friday.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said in the 8.50am accident, the man was knocked by the vehicle driven by a 21-year-old man who was making his way to the city from Pujut.

“Initial investigation revealed that the driver lost control of his vehicle after the 46-year-old victim made a sudden attempt to cross the road.

“The victim, an Indonesian man, smashed against the front windshield of the vehicle before he was thrown off and landed on the road,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He added that the victim suffered injuries to the head and was rushed to the Miri Hospital while the driver was unharmed.

He added police have gathered information from witnesses and CCTV footage from the nearby premises.
