MIRI: Perdana Petroleum Berhad, one of the few Sarawak publicly listed companies and a seasoned player in the marine services sector specialising in offshore support vessels for the oil and gas industry, inaugurated its new Miri branch office on Wednesday.

This marked a historic moment for the company, solidifying its commitment to the flourishing maritime landscape of Sarawak.

The ceremony, graced by the presence of Miri mayor Adam Yii, brought together key stakeholders, industry leaders, and community members to celebrate the strategic expansion of Perdana Petroleum Berhad into Miri.

The establishment of the Miri branch office has been long-awaited and is seen as a crucial step in enhancing Perdana Petroleum Berhad’s presence in the region.

During the event, Jamalludin Obeng, the managing director of Perdana Petroleum Berhad and a Sarawakian who started his career in Miri in 1990, expressed his excitement and gratitude for the warm welcome received from the Miri community.

“The opening of our Miri branch office is a momentous occasion for us. It symbolises our dedication to the growth and development of Sarawak’s maritime industry,” he stated.

Jamalludin proudly highlighted that 45 per cent of Perdana Petroleum Berhad’s crews are Sarawakians, with plans for further improvement.

As part of Perdana Petroleum Berhad’s corporate social responsibility commitment, he announced a meaningful contribution of goods and equipment worth approximately RM40,000 to Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Bemang, Marudi in collaboration with the company’s holding company, Dayang Enterprise Holdings Berhad.

The decision to establish a branch office here is in alignment with the vision of the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
