BAU: Three jobless men were arrested for drug possession valued at RM3,100 in a wooden hut at Kampung Nowang Mile 5 on Saturday (Sept 25).

Acting on public information, a narcotic police team led by Sub-Inspector Mapi Sipie, raided the hut around 10.15am.

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon, who confirmed the case, said the three suspects aged 22, 32 and 42 years, were detained for questioning.

“The team found six plastic packets containing crystalline lumps, believed to be syabu, inside a backpack belonging to one of the suspects.

“Another plastic packet containing crystalline lumps, also believed to be syabu, was found on a table at which two of the suspects were sitting.

“The drugs weighing at 31.99g and valued at RM3,100 were seized,” he told.

Background checks found that one of the suspects had a past criminal record while the other two have none. All three also tested positive for drugs.

He added that the three suspects will be remanded to facilitate investigations into their case under Section 39A(2) and Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Investigations found that the suspects were active in obtaining or purchasing drugs from their friends and selling part of the drugs to others.

Poge stated that these arrests could help influence other adolescents to avoid abusing drugs.

He assured that Bau narcotics police will continue to conduct carry out inspections from time to time around Bau town, villages or in suspected drug dens.
