KUCHING: Road users are advised to be safe when travelling during this holiday season.

In a press statement, State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu called for the public to be cooperative and considerate when sharing the roads.

“The PDRM would like to ask for public cooperation in ensuring safe travel for road users.

“Abide by the traffic rules and drive in a safe and considerate manner. Ensure the vehicles are in good condition and plan your journey well, especially for those travelling over long distance,” said Naga.

On another matter, the police also advised the public to take safety precautions when leaving their houses to go back to their hometown. The advice includes installing extra lock on their doors, leaving the light on, inform the nearest neighbour of your whereabouts, do not leave any valuables inside the house, close all openings such as windows, and do not leave any key outside the house.

Public can also inform their nearest police station when leaving their houses to enable the patrol unit to make scheduled visits to their housing area, he said.
