KUCHING: Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata confirmed today that police are investigating reports against the viral video of Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, wife of former governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, allegedly removing him from a private hospital here.

“The case will be investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code for endangering the lives or safety of others and offenders may face a jail term of up to three months,
a fine or both,” he said.

Mancha cautioned against sharing or speculating on the matter, stressing that action could be taken against those spreading false information.

He also warned that action could be taken under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for the improper use of network facilities.

The investigation follows a report which surfaced on social media on Feb 4.

In the report, the complainant alleges that Taib was taken from the hospital by Raghad despite medical advice for him to remain there for proper treatment.
