KUCHING: “Sarawak police will meet those involved in the case of insulting the late father of Watson Nyambek today (yesterday) in Peninsular,” said State Police Commissioner, Datuk Mazlan Mansor.

According to Mazlan, a police report has been made and police will open an investigation which will be carried out as soon as possible for further action.

The case is now being investigation under Section 504 of the Penal Code of intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace which is punishable by a penalty of imprisonment of up to two years or fine, or both if convicted.

“The former national sprinter is disappointed with the act of a private television station which belittled the name of his late father in a comedy programme recently,

“This matter was considered as a disgrace to him and family and he wants police to investigate the motive of the television host doing the act,” said Mazlan during the Monthly Assembly of Sarawak Police Commission at Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) here, yesterday.

In the programme which was broadcast on Saturday night, the host of “Sukan Tak Sentral”, Azizul Ammar Abu Hassan degraded the name of Watson’s late father by equating his name with the sound of a goat.

Watson on his social media account said that he did not care if he was insulted for being poor and bankrupt, but he could not accept it when his father was insulted.
