KUALA LIPIS: There was quite a stir here when political opponents crossed paths yesterday while campaigning for their candidates in the Cameron Highlands by-election.

Onlookers were eager to see the reaction of DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Umno acting deputy president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob when they bumped into each other while canvassing for support.

But being true professionals, they shook hands and sat at a table at a coffee shop to exchange pleasantries along with their respective supporters before heading to the night market nearby to continue campaigning.

Needless to say, the crowd whipped out their smartpones to capture the occasion.

Later Amanah president Mohamad Sabu also joined Lim and Pakatan Harapan’s candidate M Manogaran in canvassing for support in the area which was teeming with locals and tourists.

Besides Manogaran, who is also Pahang DAP chairman, the other candidates in the fray are police retiree Ramli Mohd Nor (Barisan Nasional) and two independents, former Institut Aminuddin Baki lecturer Sallehudin Ab Talib, 61, and farmer Wong Seng Yee, 40.
