KUCHING: Promote independence in business and entrepreneurship and not rely on government’s initiatives, says
Petra Jaya incumbent MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

As such, the caretaker Works Minister called on future and young contractors to be innovative and creative in their pursuit for future job prospects.

“Use your skills to your advantage, there are plumbing problems everywhere and you have the ability to fix them in houses and also different shops,” he said.

He was speaking at the Bumiputera Contractor and Entrepreneur Empowerment Programme at CIDB Convention Centre yesterday (Oct 30).

He also said initiatives to provide better services through online applications should be made to provide better convenience for customers.

In addition, he pointed out that due to the inflation crisis that is happening globally, the Sarawak government through its Post COVID-19  Development Strategy (PCDS), is creating opportunities for contractors to work in.

He added that Sarawak is a big state and the need to look ahead and beyond is crucial for the state’s development.

He added that as local contractors, it was important to collaborate with each other and the companies available which could help everyone as Sarawakians.

Present at the event were DUBS president Datuk Abang Helmi Tan Sri Ikhwan, DUBS Youth chief Datuk Seri Mohammaed Khalid, DUBS Entrepreneurship Development chairman Hanizam Hashim and Think Big Training director Awang Abdul Hafis Awang Mat.
