Powerful earthquake hits the Philippines, no tsunami threat to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has reported a significant earthquake that struck Mindoro, Philippines at 10.19am today (Jun 15).

Measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 121 kilometres, with its epicentre located at 13.8 degrees north, 120.7 degrees east, approximately 45 kilometres west of Batangas City, Philippines.

MetMalaysia has reassured that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia as a result of the earthquake.
