LAWAS: Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has expressed hope that Muslims will practice what is taught and written in the Quran.

He said, Islam is an ‘ad-din’ which can be used as a way of life in educating children from an early age by learning, reading and understanding the Quran.

“Not only is the recitation good, the melody of the recitation of the Quran is melodious, what is important is that we are able to understand what is really in the Quran.

“It (the Quran) contains all aspects of life, it contains various wisdom and it contains all our lives so we must practice what is written in the Quran,” he said according to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).

He was speaking at a Majlis Khatam Al-Quran Tadarus Jarak Jauh in conjunction with the Ramadan month by PERKIM Lawas Branch and the Lawas Islamic Charity Trust Board Contribution Presentation Ceremony to the Chairman/Imam/Bilal of the Lawas District Mosque and Surau at Masjid Darul Ma’mur, Lawas on Monday.

“Now we want to encourage the residents of Lawas to participate in such programme every year.

“We have some ustaz and ustazah who went to the villages to guide in the recitation of the Quran.

“I also hope that other departments and agencies will make PERKIM Lawas Branch their partner in developing Lawas as well as the Ummah,” she said.
