SERIAN: A two-storey house in Kampung Lebor, Jalan Gedong, was partially damaged in a pre-dawn fire this morning (Oct 8).
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the two tenants as they managed to get out to safety.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Serian station were deployed to the scene, about 16km away, after receiving an emergency call at 4.06am.
On arrival, they found that the flames had caused 40 per cent damages to the lower floor of the house.
The extinguishing deed was performed with water sourced from the fire hydrant to control the fire from spreading to the upper floor and other houses.
The team brought the fire under control at 4.25am and overhaul works were carried out to ensure that there were no embers left at the scene.
Once the situation was safe, the team concluded the operation at 6.50am. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
