Premier breaks fast with civil servants, local leaders

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg broke fast with civil servants, community leaders and village heads (KMKK) yesterday (Mar 29).

The event took place at the Atrium of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building.

The event included the presentation of duit raya by the Sarawak Women’s Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) to 52 students and 13 teachers from 13 primary schools in the Petra Jaya areas.

The schools were SK Pajar Sejingkat, SK Pasir Pandak, SK Pendidikan Khas (B) Kuching, SK Pulo, SK Rakyat Tupong, SK Rampangi, SK Tan Sri Datuk Dr Sulaiman Daud, SK Santubong, SK Rancangan Perumahan Rakyat (RPR), SK Salak, SK Semerah Padi, SK Siol Kanan and SK Semariang.

Abang Johari also performed the Maghrib, Isya’ and Tarawih prayers together with other Muslim guests at the surau on level 1 of the DUN building.

The prayers were led by Imam Besar Negeri Sarawak Datuk Mustapha Kamal.

Also present were Abang Johari’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, DUN speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Sarawak Federal Secretary Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hasan.
