KUCHING: A total of 48 preschoolers from Tadika Johan have participated in its Healthy Food Festival held from Aug 16 to 18.

Its headmistress Johanal Wong said the aim of the festival was to teach the kindergarteners the value of money and its usefulness.

She said it was also held to expose the preschoolers to various kinds of food as well as engage them in role plays between the trader and the consumer.

“Introducing the values of entrepreneurship from childhood is one of the most important endeavours in shaping the character of future generations, especially children who are going to step into adulthood.

“This activity can also shape a child’s behaviour as creative and disciplined when playing roles as merchants and buyers,” she said in a press statement.

Wong added that the festival, which involved children aged four to six, teaches early education of entrepreneurship in children through activities in kindergartens in a more entertaining way.

The methods used also help to encourage the preschoolers to learn while playing, as well as sharpen their creativity, imagination, and communication skills as they play roles as traders and clients.
