LAWAS: The value of unity and cooperation among Sarawakians must be upheld, according to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

Awang Tengah said even though people in Sarawak and Sabah have different backgrounds and cultures, they can still show kindness to each other.

He said this at the Infiesta @ Jalur Gemilang Convoy (KMJG) 2023 Integration Opening Ceremony at Lawas Waterfront yesterday (August 13).

The Bukit Sari assemblyman also said that it’s really important for young people to learn and protect these values.

“We should believe in ourselves and think that we can make the future better.

“By doing this, we can really understand what it means for our country to be independent and we can follow what our leaders want. Not just wanting to be independent, but also wanting our country and state to be a good example for others,” he said.

Also present were Lawas assemblyman Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Limbang Divisional Resident Unus Tambi, Malaysian Information Department (JaPen) Sarawak director Jaafar Jantan, JaPen Sabah director Jainisah Mohd Noor, and JaPen Labuan director Azman Sipan.
