Proposed plan for Selangau new township awaits nod

The draft plan proposal for the Selangau New Township will be presented to the State Planning Unit (SPU) for approval in the near future.

Second Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the ministry has conducted a review of the proposed plan which was approved by the SPU.

He said the proposed plan involves an area of approximately 1,099 acres which has been expanded and taking into account the needs of the population until 2030.

“The plan is also taking into account the impact of the development of the Pan Borneo Highway Project.

“The proposed development components are such as commercial and service, residential, industrial, institutional and community facilities, infrastructure and utilities as well as development of open spaces and recreation,” he said when delivering his ministerial winding up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today (Dec 1).

He added that the proposed development plan has gone through the verification process and discussion with technical agencies and representatives of local residents.

Awang Tengah was responding to a question from Christopher Gira (GPS-Tamin) who called for more development projects to be carried out.
