KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has every reason to strike back after it has been continuously provoked by Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government, said a political observer.

Datuk Peter Minos said PH had deliberately pushed GPS into a corner, hence it had to strike back in defence.

“PH has openly threatened and challenged GPS. PH openly and repeatedly said that it would topple GPS in the next state elections due in 2021. This is on top of PH federal government cutting off funds on already approved projects in Sarawak,” said Minos when asked to comment on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s remark in declaring ‘war’ on PH.

Minos said PH had till now refused to return Sarawak’s powers under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), adding that Sarawak’s repeated requests for extra royalty on oil and gas from Petronas had been rebuffed.

“Sarawak wanted to help out in repairing dilapidated schools in the state by offering RM1 billion loan but has been played out by red tape and procrastinations by PH Ministry of Finance.

“There are many other dirty and unfriendly things that PH had deliberately done against Sarawak.

“GPS and Sarawak are totally fed-up. Sarawak has had enough. Sarawak has been bullied and pressured far enough and far too long. Sarawak must now defend itself from PH and the Malayan onslaught,” Minos added.

On July 31, Abang Johari said PH had asked for it and “war” was thus declared between GPS and PH.

“And so be it. Now is for all true Sarawakians to defend Sarawak by rallying behind the chief minister.”
