Public help needed to identify man found dead at bus stop

Police seeking identity of the deceased.

KUCHING: The Kuching district police headquarters (IPD) is seeking public help to identify a man who was found dead at a bus stop along Jalan Utama, Pending here yesterday (May 10).

Acting Kuching police chief Supt Merbin Lisa is urging any family members or members of the public with information regarding the deceased to contact the Kuching district police headquarters at 082-244444 or investigating officer Sgt Major Siti Mariam at 016-4461345.

He hoped that someone would come forward to help them identify the deceased.

“At around 6.55 am, the police received a distress call from the public regarding an unidentified man found shirtless wearing brown shorts at the bus stop.

“Upon arriving at the scene, medical officers from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) confirmed that the man had died within the last 24 hours.

“There were no signs of foul play and there were no identification documents on the deceased,” Merbin said.

The deceased is described to be around 45 to 50 years old, 165cm tall and weighed approximately 60 kilograms.

The body has been taken to the SGH Forensic Unit, pending further investigation to determine the cause of death.

Merbin said the case has been classified as sudden death.
