KUCHING: According to the newest standard operating procedures (SOPs) released by the National Security Council pubs and nightclubs are allowed to reopen.

Effective on Saturday (May 14), the operating hours are based on the licences and permits from the relevant local authorities. The capacity of the premises can be used fully including the dance floor.

The council stated that those responsible for their respective premises must ensure that their employees and customers check in using the Mysejahtera app and open their MySJTrace function when they enter.

Proprietors must also make sure that only employees and customers with “low risk” status can enter.

“Any Covid-19 positive case or individual who undergoes a home surveillance order are not allowed to enter,” it said.

Moreover, they must also ensure that customers wear their masks inside the premises except when eating, drinking and dancing.

If a Covid-19 case has been found to have patronised an outlet, the whole premises must be sanitised. If an establishment is found to have started a cluster, the owner must immediately report the matter to the nearest district health office.

Customers concerned must undergo RTK self-test 24 hours before patronising a place with evaluation by licensed medical practitioners registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC), or the owners can impose self-tests on their customers before they enter, that is, if the customers haven’t done their tests beforehand.

“Those responsible must ensure that the test results are obtained within 24 hours and are negative. Any individual who did not do the Covid-19 test within 24 hours must not be allowed to enter,” said the council.

The business owners must also ensure that closed spaces have proper ventilation in accordance with the Ventilation Guideline and Inner Air Quality, Department of Occupational Safety and Health.
