SIBU: The highly anticipated Selangau Raft Safari (SRS) is set to captivate participants on July 29 at Rumah Seli, Ulu Mukah, as part of the Selangau Festival.

Organised by the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) in collaboration with Grit Event Management, the event aims to showcase the natural wonders of Selangau and boost tourism in the region.

Organising chairman Councillor Henry Kanyan Vincent Rawing expressed his excitement about SRS attracting participants from Sarawak, various parts of Malaysia, and neighbouring countries. He hoped to receive an even greater number of applications from interested teams this year.

With a total cash prize of RM20,000, SRS offers teams the chance to compete in five different categories, including Government Agency, Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Mixed Gender, and Kayak. The challenges planned for the event will test participants’ teamwork, endurance and navigational skills.

“Selangau has tremendous potential to become a prominent tourism attraction in Sarawak. SRS is SRDC’s initiative to support the Sarawak government’s vision of developing and enhancing our tourism industry,” said Kanyan.
